1. Hoekwil Country Cafe 🍰
Perched in the hills just behind Wilderness, this classic rural farm shop requires a slight detour off the N2 highway. You’re coming here for one reason and one reason alone: the legendary baked cheesecake. It routinely wins local awards, and they absolutely do not skimp on the portion sizes.
Grab a seat outside, enjoy the view of the Outeniqua mountains, and pair your cake with a massive coffee. It’s the perfect morning pitstop to slow down before hitting the road again. ☕
2. The Oak Leaf, Knysna 🌳
If you want to escape the chaotic crowds of the main Knysna Waterfront, head over to the Belvidere Estate. The Oak Leaf is a beautiful, peaceful alternative to the standard tourist traps.

Try the tapas boards or my personal favourite: the fish tacos.. delicious! Given its location, the place can get pretty busy over the weekend, so calling ahead to secure a table might be a good idea. 🌮
5. Enrico’s Restaurant, Keurboomstrand 🍕
Enrico’s sits right on a rocky edge jutting out into the ocean at Keurboomstrand. A lot of people flock here to spot whales or dolphins from the outdoor deck, but the real secret is in the Italian kitchen.
In my opinion, this is the only place to find a genuinely authentic Italian pizza along the Garden Route. The crust is thin, the toppings simple, and the view from your table truly spectacular. The crashing waves below create an inevitable peak-season waiting line. 🐬
